Meet the Team

Julie

Hi I’m Julie, I joined Penguins in September 2021 and I'm delighted to be leading the team as Childcare and Business Manager. It sounds like a grand title, but it basically means I am the person in charge of the daily sessions at Penguins.

It's a priviledge to be leading a great team. Having worked in various schools for many years I am hoping to bring my enthusiasm and expertise to ensure your children have the best possible experience at Penguins.

I have two grown up boys that I am extremely proud of and a very kind and lovely husband who happens to be an amazing cook 😊. We enjoy camping trips, making our own cider, DIY and growing yummy things to eat in the garden.

Delyth

Hello! I'm Delyth, and I’ve been part of Penguins for lots of years!

I enjoy being with your fantastic children and seeing them grow and develop.

When I’m not busy in school or at Penguins, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my gorgeous grandchildren, and socialising with friends.

Jen

Hi I’m Jen! I am a married mum to three children.

I have been working at Penguins for several years now and every day is different! Each day I come in and find myself laughing at the wonderfully funny and amazing things the children say and do.

I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping, and trying to keep my house plants alive!

Allison

Hello my name is Allison. I am one of the staff members at Penguins.

I have been at Penguins for several years now and have enjoyed watching every child grow and learn!

I am also a mum of two children aged 15 and 10, both my children have attended Penguins and this helped them grow and get ready for school. They both enjoyed their time here and still talk about it!

In my spare time I like nothing better than spending time with my little family and visiting my favourite place -Barmouth.

Hayley

Hi, I’m Hayley.

I am mum to two boys who keep me busy. We love to go on adventures and enjoy camping. I also love crocheting in my spare time, and long walks with the dog!

I joined the team working at Penguins in 2019, and I really enjoy seeing all the children having fun and learning. Every day is different!

Trustee                Responsible Individual

Hi, I’m Cheryl Quirk. I’m a very familiar face to lots of you already through my role in both Nursery and Early Entitlement in Westwood School. I am delighted to now be a part of Penguin Daycare as both Trustee and Responsible Individual (RI). I have 34 years of experience in Early Years and can genuinely say that I love what I do and do what I love!

To be part of a child’s first steps on their learning journey and to witness their progress and development is so rewarding.

I share my home with my 2 grown up children and my husband. All of which are now experts at spotting a wonderful activity for the children to enjoy, collecting resources or laminating print outs!

I love going on long walks with my husband, exploring new places to visit on holiday and I suppose I need to add that I am best known for spotting a bargain on my endless shopping trips!

Secretary

Wayne Samuels

Hi, I'm Wayne and I am Trustee Secretary at Penguin Daycare. I have been working in all areas of education from Early Years right through to 6th Form for over 20 years now. I currently teach in a PRU and love every minute of it as every day is different.

I came on board with Penguin Daycare as the person that Julie would ask to do little jobs for Penguins, (I'm her husband) and because of these bits and pieces I was doing Cheryl invited me to be officially part of the team. It is an absolute pleasure to support such an amazing childcare charity!

In my spare time I love to grow our own food in the garden and cook lots of delicious things to eat (sometimes I even follow the recipe!). As Julie mentioned above, I also enjoy camping trips, making our own cider and DIY.

Treasurer

Ashley Fraser

Hi, I'm Ash and I am the Treasurer at Penguin Daycare!

With a background in technology, business management, data protection, and education, I bring a blend of expertise and a passion for technology and education to my role here at Penguins. I also work across primary, secondary, and higher education sectors, ensuring smooth business operations and enhancing educational experiences for learners. Outside of work, you'll find me immersed in the beauty of the Welsh hills, where I live. I enjoy gardening, hiking, caving, and restoring our (old) new home. It's my slice of paradise and a perfect balance to the hustle and bustle of my professional life. I'm also brushing up on my Welsh - it's a language close to my heart and adds another layer of connection to this beautiful landscape.
